- Elderly over 75 can improve muscle strength and size
- Strength training is considered safe for older seniors
- Results can be acquired with only little effort
Even in old age it is possible to diminish age-related loss in muscle strength. Elderly over 75 are able to become stronger by doing strength training, which doesn’t even need to be very intensive: exercising one to three times a week for a minimum of eight weeks already leads to an increase in muscle strength, without serious side effects. This is concluded by an international research team which analysed data from 22 different studies regarding strength training in elderly over 75 years.
