Exercise improves cognitive function in Alzheimer's disease

...but how much is sufficient?

  • Better cognition after exercise programme
  • Exercising three times a week for thirty minutes seems enough
  • Clinical relevance remains unclear

Elderly with Alzheimer’s disease improve their cognitive skills if they engage in moderately-intensive exercise on a regular basis. A frequency of three times a week for only thirty minutes seems sufficient, but persistence is crucial. This was concluded by Chinese researchers who conducted a meta-analysis of thirteen effect studies including 673 elderly with Alzheimer’s disease.
