Exercising while sitting on a chair is an appropriate way for immobile elderly living in nursing homes or residences to improve their physical fitness. In addition, it also has a positive impact on their cognition and well-being. German scientists base these conclusions on ten studies which investigated the effectiveness of chair bound exercises. They recommend using various tools and materials, such as clothes or scarves, weights, balls, and music to keep participants interested and motivated.
