Dancers in captivating motion by Vadim Stein

Vadim Stein captures his models in black-and-white backgrounds, folding themselves into difficult positions.

Vadim Stein was born in Kiev, Ukraine, where he took an education in the area of sculpture and restoration. Since then, Vadim worked as an actor and lighting designer, but nowadays this eclectic artist is based in St. Petersburg, Russia, and he is known as a photographer, sculptor, stage designer and recently, videographer. His previous experience still influences his recent work, like his series of dance portraits.

His work brings out the beauty of balance, tranquillity and aesthetics through a fine art approach. His models? Very talented acrobatic and dynamic models, performers and dancers. The background black-and-white, placing all focus on the featured figures twisting, turning and bending themselves, sometimes in almost impossible positions.

Whether dressed in discreet undergarments or flowing, draped dresses, the dancers gracefully showcase the strength, skill, and flexibility required by their craft—no words needed.” (My Modern Met)
