Improving physical fitness in elderly manufacturing workers

…is a single group session sufficient?

  • Older employees fitter with program consisting of monthly physiotherapy sessions
  • Unclear whether older employees were indeed more physically active
  • Body composition remains almost the same after six months

Companies who want to stimulate the physical fitness of their elderly manufacturing working staff, obtain greater beneficial effects when implementing a personalised program with monthly physiotherapy sessions  than with a single group lecture covering health promotion the importance of physical activity. This the conclusion of a randomised study with data of 59 Japanese industry workers aged sixty years and older who returned for physical testing six months after following one of both interventions.
