Are physiotherapists good enough at prescribing exercises?

…and if not, then why is that?

Physiotherapists play a key role in promoting exercises for people with musculoskeletal pain. Nevertheless, physical activity and exercise prescription still varies greatly among physiotherapists. Previous surveys have shown that, although many physiotherapists are aware of physical activity guidelines, only few are able to state the content correctly.

The current study aimed to determine the knowledge and the perceived competencies of physiotherapists in prescribing aerobic exercises and resistance training, and to identify opportunities for professional development.
