Commonly, the multifidus and erector spinae muscles collectively are referred to as the paraspinal (PS) muscles. The PS muscles have an important role in movement and control of the spine, and thus could be a potential contributor to low back pain (LBP) and disability.
The aim of this study was to find out the relationship between the cross-sectional area (CSA) of the PS muscle and LBP and disability over a 1 year follow-up period.
