A tip for runners

…train your foot muscles!

  • 2.4 times less chance of injury after foot muscle strength programme
  • Perseverance required: training is not effective until after four to eight months
  • The higher the foot muscle strength, the longer the time before someone gets injured

Recreative runners can prevent injuries by training their foot muscles regularly and consistently. This, however, is not a quick fix: only after four to eight months the training pays off. This was concluded by Brazilian researchers who divided 118 runners into two groups and kept track of how often they trained and whether they got injured.
