Hop training in chronic ankle instability

...does a progressive training programme improve landing technique?

Basketball players with chronic ankle stability improve their landing technique by performing landing hop exercises for six weeks. In a single-legged landing after a hop of forty centimetres they bend their hips and knees more, resulting in a reduced impact. They also report less pain and instability after a training programme in which they perform progressive hop tasks and land on different surfaces. These are the results of a randomised controlled trial executed by a team of international researchers, who had fourteen participants performing hop training three times a week, while fourteen basketball players in the control group continued their regular training sessions.
