- A quarter of the patients have moderate to severe pain
- Over eighty percent does not receive analgesic medication
- Pain might interfere with the rehabilitation process
Many neurological patients experience moderate to severe pain during rehabilitation, and the vast majority does not receive analgesic medication. Patients who rehabilitated for a longer period of time, reported a larger decrease in pain, yet a high pain score hindered the recovery of independence during activities of daily living. This is found by German scientists who followed 584 neurological patients during their rehabilitation process.
