- One in seven women suffers from pelvic organ prolapse symptoms
- A portion of women does not train with heavy weights due to bulging sensation in pubic area
- Primarily women who were physically active responded to the survey
Women who frequently perform strength training with heavy weights do not suffer from pelvic organ prolapse symptoms more often than women who exercise with light weights or don’t train at all. In fact, an online survey which included nearly four thousand women illustrates that lifting weights exceeding fify kilograms results in less reported prolapse symptoms than women who train with loads of less than fifteen kilograms. According to the Australian authors, the current findings shed new light on the debate whether lifting heavy can lead to pelvic organ prolapse symptoms.
